The original HopCat location in downtown Grand Rapids is the perfect venue for your event.

From bridal showers to business dinners, HopCat’s loft can host private parties for up to 35 guests. Our experienced team will craft a customized event menu, ensuring a delightful, memorable experience for your guests.  

When it comes to pricing, we have a flexible approach.

There is no room rental fee for our 2nd floor loft or party tables; instead, we work on a minimum spend basis for food and beverage. The minimum spend varies based on factors such as the number of guests, time of day, and day of the week. Contact our team for specific details tailored to your requirements.

Private Event FAQ

What event room options does this site have?

The original HopCat location in downtown Grand Rapids has a few options for private parties. Our loft space, old brewery area, and party tables.

How MAny guests Are allowed per room?

(Can be combined, combination prices will be noted)
• Loft-up to 35 guests
• Old Brewery area 16-20 guests
• Party Table 600(max 12-14) guests
• Party Table 91(max 14-16) guests

What Types of events is it recommended for?

• Rehearsal dinners, business dinners, birthday parties, holiday parties, networking events, board meetings, sales meetings, baby showers, anniversary parties, office parties, graduation parties, and video game parties.
• Party tables available to rent in combination with nearby tables during large events downtown

What are the Event menu offerings?

Off the menu unless special items requested.

What is included in the rental?

No time limits.  Unless discussed with the booking manager.  This could be a way to discount the rental on large downtown event nights.
• Loft = Open Air Private dining room with capability of AV, by hooking up to the TV
• Old Brewery = Semi private area

Does it have a minimum spend?

Party Tables - These are very fluid and situational. Standard rate just for the table is $350 minimum spend on event nights. This increases per table we add to the "rental" and increases the minimum spend.  If they are set on being in the loft, max out at 20 guests and then will need to proceed into the full loft rental if they so desire to be in the loft.

Loft - (private parties automatically starts at 21 guests or more)
• Monday-Friday- Lunch No minimum unless a specified dedicated server is requested($500 min spend before tax and gratuity)
• Friday/Saturday - Dinner $1,100 minimum spend
• Saturday- Lunch $500 minimum spend up to 25 guests/$700 26- 35 guests Sunday- Lunch and dinner $500 minimum spend up to 25 guests/$700 26-35 guests
(the increase in price is based that, at that many guests a server cannot take another table and that will take up their whole shift)

Old Brewery Area - (more often then not only used as a rental when the loft is rented or in combination with)
• Friday and Saturday nights $650 minimum spend. Any other time with no events $350 minimum spend

Events downtown and at Van Andel change these dramatically. Loft=$1250 minimum spend, Old Brewery=$750
