Beer & Yoga - Tuesday Evenings

Beer & Yoga - why not combine two great things?

Join us every Tuesday evening from 6-6:45pm in our outdoor beer garden.
Classes are rain or shine- they will be moved indoors if the weather does not cooperate.

$8 cash only.

Hosted by Ashley-Brooke McGinty.

Classes will ignite the light from deep within you by vibrantly complimenting you in each and every moment. Through guided pranayama(breath control), meditation and Asana(postures) you will use self exploration and action to set clear intentions on and off the mat. Ashley-Brooke uses a balanced combination of sustained poses with attention to alignment and therapeutic principles to help support beginners learn the basics while more experienced students take postures to a deeper level.

Stick around after for a beer or snack!

Upland Sour/Capriole Goat Cheese Pairing

Here at Hopcat, we are all about supporting local businesses. Last year, we decided to take a different route to our usual monthly beer dinner and changed some things up and brought in Capriole Farms Handmade Goat Cheeses and paired them with Upland Brewing Co. Sour Ales. It was such a hit last year, we are bringing it back! We will have brewers, Pete and Adam, from Upland here to tell us all about Upland’s ever-growing Sour Ale Program. This is an event you will not want to miss!

Hoptoberfest

You don’t have to go to Germany to partake in the celebration of the world’s most well-known beer festival. HopCat will bring it to you! We’ll be pouring our favorite local and authentic imported Oktoberfestbiers, and serving our favorite German-inspired food specials. Guests are encouraged to wear their best lederhosen or dirndls. We’ll also be giving away a limited amount of Oktoberfest steins (while supplies last) so get there early!

 Pouring:

Great Lakes Brewing Co. – Oktoberfest – 6.5% - Märzen

Brauerei Aying – Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen – 5.8% - Märzen

Hofbräu München – Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier – 6.3% - Märzen

Weihenstephaner {Germany} – Festbier – 5.8%

A little history from the official Oktoberfest website - "Why is Oktoberfest called "Oktoberfest" when it actually begins in September?

The historical background: the first Oktoberfest was held in the year 1810 in honor of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities began on October 12, 1810 and ended on October 17th with a horse race. In the following years, the celebrations were repeated and, later, the festival was prolonged and moved forward into September.

By moving the festivities up, it allowed for better weather conditions. Because the September nights were warmer, the visitors were able to enjoy the gardens outside the tents and the stroll over "die Wiesen" or the fields much longer without feeling chilly. Historically, the last Oktoberfest weekend was in October and this tradition continues into present times."
